Abstract::Quite aware of the two principles of women's social obligation and their rights, feminists committed themselves to demanding their right to participate in government affairs during the early era of ROC. As the main form of mass media, the press media, including Shen News, Dagong News, Minli News etc, was used by newspaper editors to make certain affairs the concerns of the society and convey their thoughts to the public. The movement of women's participation in politics captured the attention of the well-known newspapers and became a hot topic of the public focus. Men dominated the press without an exception and were the principal writers, presenting feminist behavior from men's perspective by either portraying feminists as irrational mob, or exaggerating women's emotion, all judged by their own moral standards. Women became the objects gazed at by men. In response, feminists refused to be silent and struggled. They also used press media to debate with their opponents through their own newspapers. All these measures reduced the negative effects on women and made it possible for women to change from "the gazed objects" to "the subject with voice".
