Abstract:Since the 1980s, the decline in infant breastfeeding rate in China has brought about great challenges to healthy development of the population. This paper describes the situation of protection of women workers' rights to breastfeeding based on review of existing literature. In light of China's current laws and regulations on the protection of the right to breastfeeding, the paper analyzes positive aspects and existed problems in implementation. It is found that the lack of legal guarantees has detrimental impacts on the decline in breastfeeding rates. It is indispensable to promote the improvement of the relevant laws and regulations, in addition to emphasizing other factors that also play a role.
