Abstract:The Intrauterine device (IUD) is the principal method of birth control in China, but sometimes IUD isn't effective and dependable. Becoming pregnant does happen among women who still wear IUDs, which can harm them physically and psychologically. It is, thus, very necessary to establish a systematic compensation policy to address this harm. As China is benefitting from the dividend of a slower population growth, it is high time to protect the interests and rights of those women who have been affected by becoming pregnant while wearing IUDs. Such protection can exist within a public welfare project with a focus on reproductive health.
