Abstract:In The Main Enemy: A Materialist Analysis of Women's Oppression, Christine Delphy claims that it is women's specific participation in the family-based mode of production that provides the material root of their oppression. In this analysis, Delphy identifies the problem of women's oppression in the theoretical terrain of historical materialism. By combining Marxism with feminism, she has made great efforts to resolve the theoretical difficulties that faced Marxist feminism.
