Abstract The paper proposes the adoption of "occupational drive" on the grounds of the theory of need and value. It examines the characteristics of women scientific workers "occupational drive" based on an analysis of gender differences in and changing trend of "occupational drive" by using official empirical data and suggests ways to improve professional efficacy of women scientific workers.
