| From Sameness to Difference: On the Transformation of Female Identity, Knowledge and Discourse |

Abstract The present paper teases out the transformation of female identity knowledge/discourse since the Enlightenment. From the unified and stable subject advocated by early liberal feminists in the late 18th century to the heterogeneous multiple identity in the 21st century, female identity knowledge/discourse has witnessed significant rupture, transformation, continuation and renewal. The present study on female identity knowledge/discourse indicates the transformation of female identity from sameness to difference and its tendency of further differentiation and multiplicity in the future.
