Abstract Based on an interactive community-based investigation, in a commercial sex trade district, from a perspective of establishing subjects in their contextual background, this paper focuses on discrepancies between the construction by owners of bars and dance parlors of sex workers as subjects and discourses they use in the construction, as detected by the application of the following analytical tools, namely, perceptual consciousness, rational choice, dramatic theory and constructivism. In the end, construction of subjects and its general mechanisms are illustrated.
