Abstract:Using survey questionnaire and simulating experiment, this study examines the relationship of ambivalent sexism and attitudes toward sexual harassment in the workplace. The findings from this study are as follows: (1) HS relates positively with the attitude of the defense on the part of the harasser, but negatively with the harasser's blame; BS relates positively with harasser blame, but negatively with victim blame. (2) HS relates positively with victim suffering; BS relates positively with seeking legal counsel outside organizations. (3) General benevolent attitude toward women in sexual harassment incidents relates positively with strategies inside organizations; hostile attitude toward women in sexual harassment cases relates positively with victims suffering quietly. (4) Harasser blame relates positively with strategies inside organizations, negatively with victims suffering quietly, and positively with seeking legal counsel outside organizations. (5) When the victim violates the perceived role of traditional woman, HS relates more negatively with harasser's blame, and more positively with victim's blame.
