Abstract:In the process of rural land enclosure movements, the uxorilocally married women’s land rights have been expropriated in most cases. This paper takes the most well-known uxorilocally married women of Nanning as a case study. Along with the land enclosure, a gendered identification has been put in practice through the "majority decision" rule in the Village Autonomy, which brings a challenge for local governments while facing political stress of maintaining stability. Recommendations: integrate gender issues into the agricultural and rural training, support the establishment of women's organizations, carry out capacity building training for women; clarify membership of the rural collective economic organizations, ensure gender equality in land compensation mechanism, protect women’s participation in the village public affairs, from information, participation, decision-making to supervision; strengthen legal constraints to village regulations, ensure local governments’ coercive power in correcting village rules in violation of the laws and policies, effectively change the traditional patriarchy resource allocation rules.
