Abstract：Using data from the 2010 Survey on the Status of Chinese Women, this study examines the impacts of migrants' educational attainment on their selection of destination from a gendered perspective. The results show that migrants with higher educational attainments are more likely to choose a destination within the province. This relationship is significant mainly for women migrants. Overall, interregional migration has been more predominant, as it is told by first time migrants, than intra-provincial migration. Yet this trend is showing subtle changes in recent years, when there is an increasing share of new migrants choosing to migrate intra-provincially, rather than inter-regionally, since 2009.
