| The Effectiveness of Proportional System of Women's Political Participation |

Abstract The proportional system of women's political participation, namely, the quota system, has been an effective strategy widely adopted in the world for promoting women's political participation. The factors that are influencing the effectiveness of the proportional system of women's political participation come from policy and cultural and social environments. They include the adoption of appropriate proportional systems of women's political participation, and the feasibility and enforceability of these systems together with concrete and practical measures. The knowledge and attitudes of the public, especially policy makers and implementers' attitudes, towards the proportional systems of women's political participation have strong influence on the effectiveness of the proportional system. However, changes in policy as well as cultural and social environments will be closely related to the efforts of women's organizations and women's movements.
